Franklin County Real Estate

Real Estate

Franklin County along the Tennessee-Alabama border is known for its pristine wilderness and lakes. With 41,890 residents, Franklin County’s population hub is Winchester, with the surrounding towns of Cowan, Huntland, Sherwood, Decherd, and Estill Springs.

Franklin County has a diverse manufacturing base thanks to the automotive industry and local research and testing facilities. However, agriculture remains an integral part of the community and its history. Arnold Air Force Base and its Arnold Engineering Development Center are near the county.

The Tims Ford Reservoir and Tims Ford State Park is a big draw. Regarded as one of the best bass fishing lakes in Tennessee, it’s also considered one of the most scenic. A dam on the Elk River forms the 2,000-plus acre lake. In addition to boating and hiking opportunities, the state park is home to the Bear Trace at Tims Ford golf course, designed by Jack Nicklaus.

The Woods Reservoir also provides boating and fishing opportunities. Franklin County is dotted with other lakes, like Mont Milner and Lake O’Donnell.
