Huntsville Small Business Spotlight: Yellowhammer Brewing Co.

For today’s Small Business Spotlight, I’m here with Bill Roark, the CEO of Torch Technologies and investor in Yellowhammer Brewing Co. Torch Technologies was recently ranked in Forbes Top 25 Small Businesses, and he loves to help mentor other small businesses and help get them started.

In fact, that’s how he got involved with Yellowhammer Brewing Company!

Bill says that his brewer is a true artist who makes delicious beers. Recently, Yellowhammer moved to a new location in order to keep up with demand. They now have a 12,000 sq. foot brewery at 2600 Clinton Avenue West, which features a taproom, a patio, and allows them to produce three times as much beer as before. They are part of the Campus 805 project, and the outdoor patio faces the city park.

Hopefully, the city will pass a law that allows customers in this area to walk on the lawn and enjoy their beers, like in the downtown zone. In the warmer months, there will be entertainment on the lawn. Bring your blankets and lawnchairs, because this lawn can accommodate 2,250 people, and the brewery itself can seat a few hundred, which is quite a change from the previous location.

Yellowhammer also has new equipment to improve the quality, consistency, and production of the beer. This new equipment could help them to expand in new areas. In fact, their current location in West Huntsville is already helping to revitalize the area. Other restaurants are coming in, as well as other Huntsville breweries. Bill hopes to get a Beer Trail going one day so folks can go from place to place and enjoy their craft beers.

One of the restaurants you can visit is Earth and Stone Wood Fire Pizza, which shares the 2600 Clinton Ave location with Yellowhammer. Bill says it’s some of the best pizza he’s ever had. Pair that with some of the best beer around, and you will have quite the evening.
