Breweries and distilleries are plentiful in Huntsville. There are several options to check out to try some tasty beverages, take a tour and grab a bite to eat with your group while you’re there. Try popular breweries like the Old Black Bear Brewing Company and Yellowhammer Brewery in downtown Huntsville or the Salty Nut Brewery in North Huntsville. Here is a look at a few local favorites around town.
Salty Nut Brewery – 4411 Evangel Circle Suite A
Located in North Huntsville is the Salty Nut Brewery. While the brewery is newer to the Huntsville area, the company was already serving their craft brews in places like The Nook and Liquor Express. You can try great options like the Hop Naughty IPA, the Imperial Moustache Red, the Nom Nom Porter, the Bee Transfixed Honey Amber Ale or the #busted Nut Brown Ale.
The Brew Stooges – 109 Maple Avenue
A great downtown option is the Brew Stooges located on Maple Avenue. Their taproom hours are Thursday through Saturdays from 5-9pm featuring 12 taps. You’ll love their live music and comedy shows on Friday and Saturday nights. The food is provided by Doctor BBQ those nights.
Yellowhammer Brewery – 2406 Clinton Avenue West
The Yellowhammer Brewery is another popular choice in downtown Huntsville. Their tap room is open Fridays from 4-9pm and Saturdays from 2-9pm. They are releasing their best-selling, year-round flagship brews in six-packs.
Their very first brew was the Yellowhammer White back in 2010 when their doors opened and it’s still the most popular brew. Check them out when food trucks and music take place on their social media pages.
Below the Radar Brewing Company – 220 Holmes Avenue NE
A local favorite is the Below the Radar Brewing Company in downtown Huntsville. They feature a taproom and full restaurant. It’s the first Craft-Brewhouse in the Historic Huntsville Times Building that opened in 2012.
Check out their craft-brews, extensive wine list and liquor drinks as well as lunch and dinner menu. Live music takes place on Fridays and Saturdays as well as during Sunday brunch. It’s upscale, family-friendly and nonsmoking.
