If you attended our Holiday Open House & Grand Opening Celebration, then you probably saw the fantastic performance by Huntsville Community Drumline. Today we’re visiting with Angela Walker, who is the founder and CEO of Huntsville Drumline.
The drumline is a year-round after-school program for children in grades 1st-9th. The band focuses on percussion instruments, but the ultimate goal is to form the children into the next generation of leaders. This positive, community-oriented experience prepares them for a successful future. Discipline is a large part of being a member, and the lessons they learn will apply to many scenarios in real life.
The next big event for the drumline is the St. Patrick’s Day Parade coming up this Saturday, March 12th in downtown Huntsville! You can always check out the Huntsville Drumline’s website for more information. The band performs up to 80 times per year, so they can be seen quite often.
The Drumline will also be hosting an annual event in July called IDrum, and this one is especially fun because it’s free and the audience is encouraged to get involved.
If you’d like to get involved by donating or supporting the drumline, they are always in need of drums or cash donations. The websites listed below have portals for donations, and much of the money donated goes to buying more drums, sticks, and outfits for shows:
