Our January numbers have just come in! We may have experienced a slight delay due to the snow, but I have great news to share. In the Huntsville/Madison area, residential sales improved by 16.3% in comparison to January 2013. As for our housing inventory, we saw a decrease of 19 units in comparison to January 2013 but inventory has risen 4.4% year over year. Also, the inventory-to-sales ratio in January is holding at 9 months of housing supply.

According to the Alabama Center of Real Estate, Huntsville was considered one of Alabama’s most balanced markets in 2013. A breakdown of the current Huntsville sales shows that 72% of sales came from existing single family homes, new home sales accounted for 26% and condo sales took the remaining 2% of sales in the market.
