According to a national report, June home sales were up 2.6% and prices jumped 4.3% since last summer. As far as the supply of available homes is concerned, inventory is at 5.5 months. This data shows that, nationally, we’re moving toward a stable and balanced market.
As we all know, real estate is local – so national data doesn’t always tell us a great deal about whats going on here in Huntsville. Completely different trends could be occurring in different suburbs or different price ranges. For instance, we’ve seen home sales jump 5.3% since last June. This is good news, as new home sales help spur economic growth and job creation. We’ve also seen home prices increase by 10%, which means people are not only getting their homes sold, but for a profit. With inventory at 6.4 months, Huntsville has a very healthy, balanced market.
As the summer wraps up, we’re going to see buyers become more selective with their home choices. If you’re looking to sell, your home needs to stand out. You need your home to look its best, have great curb appeal, be priced right, and marketed aggressively in order to attract the right kind of buyers.
