Back to School Tax Free Weekend

TAX-FREEReady or not, here it comes!  Time to wrap up summer vacations and head back to school.  With that comes a long list of needed school supplies to help local children be successful this school year.  Do you remember getting excited about picking out a new backpack or the smell of a fresh box of crayons?  I remember it being so exciting as a kid!  Of course, it may have been exciting because I was eager to see my friends that I hadn’t seen in a few months.  Either way, back to school time is bittersweet.  But we wanted to remind you of a great way to save on school supplies this year…Tax Free Weekend!

It’s happening Friday, August 5th – Sunday, August 7th

Alabama will hold its eleventh annual sales tax holiday, beginning Friday, August 5, 2016 at 12:01 a.m. and ending Sunday, August 7, 2016 at 12 midnight, giving shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain school supplies, computers and clothing free of state sales tax. Local sales tax may apply.
